A Few Words About “The Lion” © Abilene Music, Inc.
Although we do not know the exact date for this song, it is said to have been handed down through many generations of Zulu herders in Africa before being recorded for the first time by Solomon Linda in 1939. This folk classic had a rebirth in 1961 when it was a smash hit for the Tokens and it was just recently revived in the soundtrack of Disney’s “The Lion King” but it is probably the most ancient song we do.
